Maud Kells, a friend of Banbridge Baptist Church for many years has been awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to people in The Congo. Ever since Maud answered the call of God to the mission field in The Belgian Congo in 1968 she has been a frequent visitor when home on furlough. Originally from Cookstown, her work as a nurse and midwife has help saved many lives in the remote African jungle. Last year she was dramatically rescued after fears that rebel forces were set to launch an attack on the hospital she worked at. The Lord has richly blessed Maud in her service of for him in spreading the Gospel in her new earthly home and likewise we are always blessed to hear of God’s work in The Congo when she visits. This is a wonderful recognition by Her Majesty of Maud’s service to the people of The Congo and some day, Maud will hear the “well done thou good and faithful servant” from The Lord Himself (His Majesty) for her service for Him.
